The University of Basrah  held the first closed morning and evening sessions of its regular council at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, headed by Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and attended by his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs and members of the university council. The council discussed many matters related to the scientific and administrative aspects of the university and included on its agenda. It was also emphasized to implement the ministerial directives and instructions of the Opinion Authority. The council also discussed topics related to postgraduate studies and issued instructions to the teaching and functional staff regarding the new academic year, in continuation of the development and advancement of the university's scientific progress.
