The University of Basra has achieved a great achievement in light of its nomination for two Academy Awards for the Times Higher Education Classification of Asian Universities. The university was nominated among eight universities out of 600 to the Asian Universities Summit, which was held at Fujita Medical University in the Japanese city of Nagoya, and the Iraqi delegation was led by the university's president, Dr. Saad Shaheen, and some deans of the university's faculties.
