
The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science, held a scientific symposium entitled "Drugs and Their Psychological, Social, and Legal Effects on Graduate Students." The symposium addressed the following topics:
The first topic, presented by Legal Colonel Ali Mohsen Hamid, addressed how to strike a balance between providing support and treatment for addicts and imposing penalties for addiction-related crimes. This requires cooperation between government institutions and non-governmental organizations, as well as a deep understanding of the laws and regulations related to addiction.
The second topic, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Muzani and Dr. Zahraa Saleh Abdul Sahib, "The Impact of Addiction on the Psychological and Social Aspects of Drug Addiction Treatment." The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences and the Director of the Educational Guidance Unit, as well as undergraduate students from various universities. The workshop addressed the drug and psychotropic substance abuse screening form for graduate students in Iraq for the academic year 2024-2025, in accordance with Ministerial Order No. B T H/43 83 dated August 28, 2025, regarding admission requirements for studies, and the most important legal provisions stipulated in Law 50 of 2017 on Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, published in the Iraqi Gazette, Issue No. 4446. The lecturers and students discussed several related topics. The workshop resulted in a set of recommendation
