University of Basrah holds a scientific symposium entitled (Turnitin electronic plagiarism checking program and checking international journals)

The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education and the Educational Guidance and Psychological Guidance Unit, held a scientific symposium entitled (Turnitin Electronic Plagiarism Checking Program and Checking International Journals). The symposium included two lectures, the first entitled (Turnitin Program ... Standards and Rates of Electronic Plagiarism) which was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Muhammad Hassan Ismail, and the second entitled (Checking International Journals and Avoiding Predatory, Fake and Commercial Journals) which was delivered by Prof. Dr. Diaa Abdul Mohsen Hassan. The course was managed by Prof. Dr. Adel Amala Damd and attended by the Head of the Chemistry Department, Prof. Dr. Muayad Youssef Kazim, a group of Chemistry Department professors, college professors and postgraduate students. The course highlighted the method of electronic plagiarism of research and theses using the Turnitin program and the plagiarism rates accepted according to the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It also addressed the methods of examining international journals in Scopus, Clarivate, and SJR containers and the electronic portal for journals on the Ministry’s website and detecting predatory, fake, and commercial journals, which has an impact on improving the quality of scientific publishing for graduate students and researchers and staying away from predatory journals that cause waste of internationally classified Iraqi research.
