Basrah University organizes an emergency scientific workshop to combat hemorrhagic fever

The University of Basrah  organized an emergency workshop for the university team to investigate and monitor cases of hemorrhagic fever in humans and animals, led by the President of the University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and faculty members from the College of Medicine and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The workshop, in which Dr. Munther Al-Kazemi from the United Kingdom participated electronically, included a discussion of ways and means to prevent the transmission of infection and combat the spread of the disease, as well as the completion of research to limit its risk, as well as the formation of a committee for the purpose of implementing procedures and follow-up.

The workshop came out with important recommendations, including the approval of the university president on the proposal submitted by the College of Veterinary Medicine to create a common diseases unit specialized in developing scientific plans in cooperation with the relevant state departments to control and limit the spread of common diseases. It was also approved to establish a bank for viral isolates, as well as equipping a laboratory with a high safety rate for dealing With the isolates, as well as Dr. Basil Abdel-Zahra Abbas and Dr. Wissam Munther Muhammad Salih from the College of Veterinary Medicine were assigned as administrative rapporteurs for the committee, and Dr. Munther Al-Kazemi was chosen as a scientific rapporteur.
