On the painful occasion of Ashura, the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah offers his deepest condolences on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
On this painful anniversary, we recall the immortal Karbala incident, where Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his family, and his righteous companions were martyred in defense of truth and justice and in rejection of injustice and deviation from the lofty Islamic principles. Ashura represents a great school of patience, steadfastness, and sacrifice for principles and values.
On this great occasion, we draw lessons and morals from the revolution of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in sincerity, bearing responsibility, and adhering to the truth, regardless of the sacrifices. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) remains in the conscience of the nation, a beacon illuminating the path of the free throughout the ages.
We ask God Almighty to inspire us to follow the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), to unite the ranks of our Islamic nation, and to grant us security and peace.
