The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture entitled “Quenching”
The lecture presented by the researcher (Ali Obaid Hassan Khassaf) included a brief presentation of the fluorescence process and how it occurs after the chemical molecules absorb part of the radiation falling within the visible region represented by the fluorescein dye, which suffers an excitation process within a range of wavelengths through this region, then the molecule moves within the possibilities Multiple from a stable orbit to another excited orbit. The fluorescence process occurs with the same polymorphism, ie, in the case of a transition from a stable monoclinic level to an excited monoclinic level.
The presentation also included how the quenching process occurs and the mechanics adopted to explain the quenching process after using both iodine and iodine ions using fluorescein dye as a carrier current and knowing the effect of fluorescence on the process of estimating both I- and -IO3 ions.
The most important applications and uses of fluorescein dye with chemical formula (C20H12O5) were also discussed, which is represented by its good solubility in water and methanol
