Two teachers from Basra University publish research in an international journal

The two teachers, Professor Adel Amala Damad and Professor Tariq Ali Fahd, in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences published a paper entitled

Synthesis, structural characterization and optical nonlinear properties of two azo- β-diketones

Preparation and study of the structural and nonlinear optical properties of two azo diketones

In: Journal of Molecular Structure

Impact factor: 2.463

Summary:

Preparation, characterization and theoretical study of the molecular structure and optical properties of two derived azo dyes. The prepared particles have important optical properties of wide application.

The Z-scan method was adopted to study the optical nonlinear properties of the two compounds using a continuous wave laser beam with a wavelength of 473 nm. Linear refractive indexes on the order of 10 −8 cm 2 / s. We show that the nonlinearity of the two samples is thermal. The two compounds exhibited optical limiter properties with specific cut-off values of 15.5 and 16.7 MW, respectively. The mechanism of the visual limiter shown by the two samples is discussed.
