The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, organized a seminar entitled
(Effective Methods for Acquiring the Necessary Skills for Safely Handling Chemicals and Glassware)
The seminar, presented by lecturers M.M. Noha Iyad Muhammad, M.M. Nour Hamed Faisal, M.M. Roaa Qasim Ibrahim, and M.M. Noha Walid Ali at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, aimed to shed light on effective methods for acquiring the necessary skills for safe handling of chemicals and glassware. The seminar focused on the importance of accurately understanding the properties and hazards of materials, while fully adhering to the instructions for using tools and glassware in a safe and effective manner.
It also addressed the importance of accurately applying safety procedures, such as wearing personal protective equipment such as glasses and gloves, and complying with the guidelines related to handling hazardous materials. The seminar stressed the need to use standard tools, such as precision balances and pipettes, to ensure the accuracy of sample measurements, while documenting and reviewing the results systematically. In addition, the seminar discussed how to act in emergency situations quickly and wisely by using emergency equipment or taking appropriate measures, with immediate reporting to the competent authorities to ensure control of the situation.
