The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, University of Basra, organized a scientific lecture on the analytical and pharmacological studies of benzocaine
The lecture presented by the researcher (Hassanin Abdel Samad Abdel Majid) included a study
Benzocaine and its role as a local anesthetic.
Its uses, advantages and disadvantages.
Methods of preparation.
Spectrophotometric applications for determination of its pharmaceutical preparations.
And pharmacological applications in evaluating its efficacy as an anesthetic and treatment.
Objectives of the lecture
It aims to define the importance of benzocaine as a local anesthetic, and to use reliable and simple spectroscopic methods in estimating its pharmaceutical preparations in its pure form and from its multiple forms (tablets, syrup, spray, gel, drops), and also using it as an analytical reagent by nitrifying and coupling method in the estimation of many pharmaceutical compounds such as (Vitamin). B6 and Ventoline) in their pure forms. Either applied pharmacological research, which indicates the importance of benzocaine and its analogues as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, anti-cancer, tuberculosis, and treatment of many diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and stroke, as well as evaluating its effectiveness in terms of concentration and volume required for anesthesia.
