The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on heterocyclic pentacyclic compounds containing nitrogen and sulfur atoms.
The lecture presented by the researcher (Haider Abdel Salam) included heterocyclic compounds, which are compounds that have a cyclic structure consisting of more than one type of atoms that may be similar or different, and the nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur atoms are the most common heterogeneous atoms in these Compounds in addition to the carbon atom, and heterocyclic compounds can be classified into aliphatic and aromatic compounds, and these compounds have a wide spread in nature and have gained great interest from researchers for their biological and industrial importance, as they enter into the synthesis of chlorophyll in plants, and hemoglobin contains four rings of pyrrole.
These compounds are also included in the composition of sugars and their derivatives and in the composition of most vitamins such as (Vitamin C) (1), which contains the Furan ring. Most of the vitamins belonging to the group (Vitamin C have heterogeneous rings containing nitrogen, including compound (B6) pyridoxine 2), which is a derivative of pyridine, which is necessary for the metabolism of amino acids
