Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Al-Dahan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Majid Mohammed Jassim, and with the coordination of the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Dr. Moayad Yousif Kadhim, the Department of Chemistry—in collaboration with the Center for Development and Continuing Education—organized a scientific lecture titled "The Role of Chemistry in Water Treatment." The event took place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the Department Council Hall, and was attended by a number of students from the Department of Chemistry.
The lecture covered several key scientific topics, addressing the importance of chemistry in water treatment, its role in developing treatment methods, improving water quality, and reducing pollutants. It also highlighted chemical applications that contribute to addressing environmental challenges related to water and preserving this vital resource.
The lecture was presented by a group of faculty members from the Department of Chemistry, including:
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Hadi Majeed
- Lecturer Dr. Abdul-Jalil Mohammed Abdul-Jalil
- Lecturer Dr. Maitham Najm Abboud
- Assistant Lecturer Ayat Naji Hassan
- Assistant Lecturer Sarah Aref Kamel
The event featured active engagement from the attending students, who explored the topics presented and gained insight into the practical applications of chemistry within the field of water treatment. This lecture is part of a series of academic activities organized by the College of Education for Pure Sciences, aimed at enhancing students' specialized knowledge, bridging the gap between theory and practical application, and raising awareness about the importance of scientific research in addressing environmental issues and serving the community
