The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Life Sciences and the Continuing Education Unit, organized an awareness workshop for fourth-year female students titled "You Are the First Responder," focused on the prevention of breast cancer. The workshop began on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 10:30 AM in the Life Sciences Department laboratory and is scheduled to span two days. It was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Salma Saeed Abbas and Lecturer Zainab Abdul-Amir Najm. This initiative is part of the global "Pink October" campaign—held annually throughout the month of October—which aims to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early detection of breast cancer. The workshop covered several key topics, including: the significance of early detection, regular self-examinations, and mammograms; methods for prevention and improving treatment prospects through early diagnosis; and providing psychological and moral support to those affected by highlighting the stories of survivors and offering assistance to both the patients and their families
