The Central Committee for the University of Basra's central graduation ceremony held its first meeting to discuss the tasks of the committees responsible for organizing and managing the 59th graduation ceremony (the "Lions of Mesopotamia" ceremony).
During the meeting, University President Dr. Aqeel Fadhil Al-Dahhan emphasized the need to avoid the technical and organizational obstacles that plagued previous ceremonies, particularly those related to sound quality, stage management, timing, and services. He called for contracting with more professional companies.
The university president instructed the eleven central committees to conduct prior training and preparations, and to optimize logistical and media operations. He also stressed the importance of providing adequate support to the families of graduating students, ensuring they have the necessary facilities, and allocating specific spaces for the university council, college councils, and faculty members.
For his part, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Khazal, noted that training sessions and sporting events will be held at the stadium immediately following the ceremony, presenting the university with a significant challenge that requires the highest level of organization. To maintain this vital and important sports facility before and after the central graduation ceremony.
For his part, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Ayman Naama Saleh, expressed his confidence in the combined and intensified efforts of all relevant committees to overcome past shortcomings and present the graduation ceremony in the best possible light, befitting the University of Basra. He indicated that the invitation to attend the ceremony will be open to the public.
It is worth noting that the central graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Basra International Stadium
