In alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's directives to enhance the role of universities in community service, foster partnerships between academic and healthcare institutions, and implement scientific research outcomes and innovative projects, Prof. Dr. Majid Mohammed Jassim, Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah, visited the Jaafar Al-Tayyar (PBUH) Physical Therapy Center. He was accompanied by a team of faculty members and students from the College’s Department of Computer Science.
The visit aimed to present an outstanding research project developed by the department's faculty and students: an intelligent simulation device designed for patients undergoing continuous physical therapy. The device utilizes intelligent simulation systems and modern software technologies to enable the electronic, remote monitoring of physical therapy stages.
The device aims to assist patients in adhering to prescribed treatment regimens and allows for the electronic monitoring of their health and treatment status. This contributes to enhancing treatment efficiency and reducing the need for frequent in-person visits to the attending physician, while facilitating more consistent monitoring of the patient's progress.
This initiative is an applied research project that reflects the College's commitment to transforming knowledge and scientific output into practical solutions that serve the community, particularly in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, the project has been published in an international peer-reviewed scientific journal and showcased at various scientific exhibitions, demonstrating the high level of scientific and innovative capability achieved by the College's students and faculty. For its part, the administration of the Ja’far al-Tayyar (AS) Physiotherapy Center commended these scientific and research efforts. They expressed their readiness to support and host such pioneering projects and to encourage their practical implementation, given the potential contribution they offer to advancing the healthcare sector, as well as their role in fostering innovation, scientific research, and community service among students.
During the visit, the Dean emphasized the importance of aligning scientific research with the needs of the community and strengthening cooperation with healthcare institutions. This approach aims to achieve synergy between the university and state institutions, while providing students with a genuine opportunity to transform their ideas and scientific projects into practical applications that serve the public and support the progress of scientific development in our beloved country
