Visit to Jaafar Al-Tayyar (AS) Rehabilitation Center

Under the guidance of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and in line with the university's role in serving the community and strengthening ties with health and service institutions, the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra, represented by its Dean, Professor Dr. Majid Muhammad Jassim, organized a visit to the Jaafar al-Tayyar (peace be upon him) Rehabilitation Center. This center provides care for wounded and injured members of the Popular Mobilization Forces and security forces, as well as citizens of Basra Governorate.

The visit aimed to present a comprehensive program for automating the center's management system using the latest software. This program was developed by a student from the Department of Computer Science at the college, under the supervision of Dr. Rana Jassim. The delegation was accompanied by Professor Dr. Shukri Shakir Falih, Director of the Student Affairs and Registration Department at the university.

The visit included a meeting with the center's administration, during which mechanisms for initiating the project were discussed, and the necessary plans were developed to enhance the center's management system to align with the medical, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services it provides to its beneficiaries. A proposal was also presented for implementing one of the pioneering research projects prepared by the Computer Science Department. This project involves designing and manufacturing an intelligent robot to assist in monitoring and rehabilitating amputee patients, thereby contributing to increased efficiency in treatment follow-up and achieving higher levels of accuracy.

For his part, the center's director commended this initiative, praising the efforts of the University of Basra and the College of Education for Pure Sciences in supporting community institutions and harnessing scientific and research capabilities to serve the wounded, injured, and the general public. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to achieve the desired humanitarian and developmental goals
