On the occasion of National Tree Planting Day... The Department of Computer Science at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Basra, participates in the tree planting campaign

In a move reflecting environmental awareness and promoting a culture of good citizenship, faculty, staff, and students of the Computer Science Department at our college participated in the National Tree Planting Campaign, which takes place annually on March 12th.

The event was held under the direct supervision and sponsorship of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Majid Mohammed Jassim, and the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Hamed Ali Abdul-Asadi, who participated in the campaign alongside faculty and students, emphasizing the department's role in actively contributing to societal and environmental issues.

This annual initiative, which is observed in educational institutions, universities, and public spaces throughout Iraq, aims to increase green spaces and combat desertification through extensive tree and shrub planting campaigns. The Computer Science Department's participation in this event underscores the importance of providing a healthy and sustainable university environment and reflects its belief in the university's role in promoting environmental awareness and protecting natural resources for future generations. During his participation, Dr. Hamed Ali Abdul-Asadi emphasized that "these activities embody the spirit of social responsibility within our department. They are not merely about planting trees, but rather about instilling the values ​​of giving, belonging, and preserving the civilized appearance of our university." He added that the department always strives to participate in initiatives aimed at combating desertification and improving the environment, in line with the national slogans supporting afforestation: "With scientific hands... we create a green environment."

This participation comes as part of a series of events organized by the department throughout the year, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between students and faculty members, and spreading a culture of volunteer work and preserving the university environment
