On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the 3rd International Conference on Computing and Machine Learning (IEEE 3rd International Conference on Computing and Machine Learning - CML 2026) commenced. Organized by the Computer Applications Department at the Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Soft Computing Research Society, this major scientific event falls under the umbrella of the global IEEE, lending it particular significance as one of the world's most prestigious technical conferences.
The conference, held in a hybrid format (in-person and remote), featured a distinguished research contribution from Iraq. Master's student Hawraa Salem Faroun Al-Asadi, supervised by Professor Dr. Hamed Ali Abdul-Asadi in the Department of Computer Science, presented her research titled:
"Multimedia Transmission Strategies in MANETs: Latest Trends in QoE, Performance and Complexity." This research was conducted in collaboration with other researchers, including Maitham Mohammed Ali Abdullah and Assistant Professor Dr. [Name Missing]. Zaid Amin Abdul Jabbar and Professor Vincent Omollo Nyangarisi from Kenya.
The study reviewed the latest trends in multimedia data transmission strategies within mobile networks (MANETs), focusing on three key areas: Quality of Experience (QoE), which reflects end-user satisfaction; network performance in terms of speed and reliability; and the computational complexity of these strategies. This research is a significant contribution to the field of next-generation networks and their applications.
This academic achievement is particularly important as the accepted papers will be published in the "Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems" series by Springer, a global publishing house, and indexed in Scopus, one of the world's largest databases of peer-reviewed research. This ensures the research reaches a broad audience of researchers and academics worldwide and increases its potential for future citation. This participation is a new addition to the series of contributions of Iraqi researchers in prestigious international scientific forums, and reflects the distinguished scientific level of both the student Hawraa Salem and her research supervisor, Professor Dr. Hamed Ali Abdul-Asadi, and confirms Iraq’s active presence in the fields of modern technology and engineering
