University of Basrah ranks third in the Iraqi university rankings

The University of Basra ranked third among public universities in the 2025 Iraqi University Rankings, announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This ranking followed an evaluation of more than 100 public and private universities across Iraq.

The ranking, conducted by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority, was based on an assessment of 103 educational institutions across nine key institutional performance indicators: institutional accreditation standards (15%), international rankings (10%), scientific research effectiveness (35%), sustainable development and green indicators (10%), assessment of the scientific and academic environment and compliance rules (5%), awards (5%), international diversity (10%), occupational health and safety and environmental protection (5%), and extracurricular activities (5%).

The ranking results, published on the official website of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, demonstrated the University of Basra's excellence and progress in scientific, research, and institutional performance indicators, reflecting its strong academic standing among Iraqi universities. On this occasion, the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to all members of the university, including faculty, researchers, staff, and students, stressing that this achievement is the fruit of collective work and institutional integration, and evidence of the university’s continuous commitment to improving the quality of education and scientific research, and continuing to achieve advanced positions in national and international rankings
