The College of Education for Pure Sciences is organizing a seminar on (Electronic Blackmail, Extremism and Ways to Prevent Them)

On Monday, December 29, 2025, the College of Education for Pure Sciences, in cooperation with the Basra Intelligence Agency/High Authority for Resolving Community Conflicts in Basra Governorate/Basra Tribal Affairs Department, and the Basra Education Directorate, organized a seminar entitled "Electronic Blackmail, Extremism, and Methods of Prevention." The seminar, presented by Mr. Jabbar Kadhim Najm Al-Hilu Al-Moussawi, Head of the High Authority for Resolving Community Conflicts in Basra Governorate, Ms. Duha Fadhil Abdul Wahab Al-Asadi from the Basra Education Directorate, and a group of qualified officers from the Basra Intelligence Agency, addressed the most prominent dangers of electronic blackmail as a growing form of digital crime. It also aimed to raise awareness among the university community about methods of protection and prevention against these crimes, and to promote a culture of safe and responsible use of social media.

The seminar concluded with a discussion of the dangers of electronic blackmail as a growing form of digital crime. Cyber ​​extortion is considered one of the most prominent digital crimes, with its threats escalating in the digital age. A presentation was given by lecturers from the Information Technology Department of the Provincial Intelligence Agency to discuss the types and methods of extortion, ways to prevent and protect against it, and to raise awareness about how to deal with extortion cases. The presentation also addressed the impact of extortion on individuals and society, and the role of legislation and security measures in combating this type of crime.

The seminar was well-attended by faculty, staff, and students of the college.
