The University of Basrah, through its College of Education for Pure Sciences, launched a comprehensive media awareness campaign to combat the scourge of drugs and psychotropic substances. The campaign saw active participation from faculty, students, and staff.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness by highlighting the devastating health, psychological, and social consequences of drug use on individuals and families. It also sought to strengthen community resilience by emphasizing the importance of social cohesion and the role of youth in confronting this serious problem. Furthermore, the campaign aimed to promote a culture of prevention and warn against the dangers of falling into addiction.

A number of awareness posters and flyers with focused guidance and warning messages were distributed and displayed throughout the college's entrances, corridors, and facilities.
