The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, in cooperation with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basrah, organized a workshop on (Chemical Safety in Chemistry Department Laboratories). The workshop was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassanein Abdul Samad Abdul Majeed, Asst. Prof. Hawra Kareem Dayef, with the participation of a group of lecturers. The workshop aims to guide fourth-year students to identify the warning signs of chemicals, how to safely handle materials and glassware in the laboratory, in addition to safety procedures. The workshop was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Qasim Fadhel, and the Rapporteur of the Chemistry Department, Asst. Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hadi Majeed. It was held in the Chemistry Department Council Hall. The workshop organizers recommended (adherence to safety requirements in laboratories, caution when handling chemicals)
