University of Basrah organizes a workshop on (electronic blackmail and ways to prevent it in cyber security and its psychological and social dimensions on university students)

The College of Education for Pure Sciences, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling Unit and the Women's Affairs Unit, organized a workshop entitled "Electronic Blackmail and Ways to Prevent It in Cybersecurity and Its Psychological and Social Dimensions on University Students". The workshop, delivered by the lecturer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Khawla Hussein Ali, in collaboration with a group of lecturers, included the phenomenon of blackmail, its motives, ways to prevent it, and its spread in society, as well as the process of threatening and intimidating the victim by publishing photos or videos or leaking confidential information about the victim by the perpetrator in exchange for paying sums of money or exploiting the victim to carry out illegal acts for the benefit of the blackmailers, such as disclosing confidential information about the employer or other illegal acts. The aim of this lecture was to raise awareness among students and, in cooperation with specialized agencies, to report anyone who carries out blackmail without fear or hesitation to reduce this phenomenon.
