A research team from the University of Basrah obtains a patent

Prof. Dr. Dawood Salem Abd, in the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, obtained a patent from the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control of the Ministry of Planning, in order to enable them to “prepare new anti-cancer and antioxidants derived from cysteine and containing the two thiazolidine and oxadiazole rings,” in cooperation with a researcher from his directorate Education in Dhi Qar, M. Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hadi Majeed. The team was able to prepare new compounds from thiazolidine derivatives that contain the oxadiazole ring, and both rings are biologically active and gave good results against cancer cells of the type MCF7, as well as effective results against oxidation and bacteria.
