The University of Basrah  appeared for the first time at the level of Iraq in the Shanghai general classification and ranked 2812 globally.

Five Iraqi universities entered the classification this year, namely, Baghdad, Babylon, Basra, Mosul and Sulaymaniyah, and the University of Basra, in sequence, 2812 among the international universities, where the name of Iraq had never been present in the Shanghai classification previously.

The official of the International Rankings Unit at the University of Basrah, Dr. Hussain Kateh Abdul-Sada, stated that the University of Basrah, after this achievement in the Shanghai World Ranking, seeks to support its position in reaching an advanced rank among the top 500 universities in the world, which is the desired goal of the university administration.
