A research team from Basrah University publishes scientific research in an international journal

A research team from the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra, including Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Muhammad Salih al-Shawi, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Qasim Muhammad, and in cooperation with a research team from Karbala University, Koya University and Kingston University in Britain, managed to publish a research entitled
 Voltammetric Determination of Hg2+, Zn2+, and Pb2+ Ions Using a PEDOT/NTA-Modified Electrode.

In a magazine: ACS Omega, a solid magazine among Scopes and Clarvet containers with an impact factor of 3.9 and among the American Chemical Society publishing house

This project focuses on the fabrication of functional polymeric membranes that can be used as electrochemical sensors for metal ions in aqueous solutions. A new electrochemical sensor for metal ions using modified polymer has been successfully fabricated using electrochemical techniques. The as-prepared polymer was studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and EDX. The effect of scanning rate on the electrochemical properties of the polymer electrode was also studied. The new PEDOT/NTA film was applied to detect mercury, lead and zinc ions in aqueous solutions
