The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry, University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on azo dyes and their applications in the medical field and as corrosion inhibitors for carbon steel
The lecture, which was moderated by the researcher (Hadi Thamer Obaid), included
on azo dyes.
Preparation of azo dyes.
Chemical properties of azo dyes.
Introducing the importance of azo dyes applications in the medical fields and as corrosion inhibitors.
Objectives of the lecture
The seminar aims to introduce the central role of azo aromatic dyes in many basic and applied research over nearly two centuries, in which the field of their synthesis, development and use has witnessed many achievements, and they have become present in many aspects of our lives, ranging from textiles, cosmetics, food and medicine to The field of energy and photonics. Despite their long history, these compounds continue to arouse academic interest, and while they are mass-produced for industrial purposes, they also continue to expand with new high-tech applications. The most recent fields of application are photopharmacology, photodegradable adhesives, biodegradable materials and drug conductive materials. All this is due to the compositional diversity and adaptive properties of aromatic dyes that continue to inspire and develop new research directions.
